Ideal for anyone 18 and older, the $300 course will offer healthy-lifestyle classes to help participants lose weight or simply learn the skills to adopt a healthy lifestyle and better meal planning.
“We welcome anyone that has wellness as a goal for 2020 to join us!” said Amy Rosenfeld, MS RD CDN, lead instructor and registered dietitian for the Center for Healthy Living.
Even if you’re planning on joining that gym—and you won’t be surprised to hear that more people join a gym in January than any other month—exercise alone isn’t the answer.
Our program is unique in that it is led by a multidisciplinary team of trusted clinical experts from Northern Westchester Hospital — dietitians, nurse practitioners, exercise physiologists, mental health professionals and sleep specialists. Participants will learn about nutrition and meal planning, but will also learn about lifestyle supports that can further aid wellness goals — stress management, sleep and exercise. Additionally, our program has a seminar every session and a hands-on interactive activity so participants walk away with a skill they have practiced, such as a cooking demo. —Rosenfeld
The class—starting January 24, 2020 and running through April 24, 2020—will be held weekly on Fridays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and is designed to support a small group of 30 participants who all share an interest of working toward wellness goals in a supportive environment, according to Rosenfeld. Each session will be followed by a question and answer period and participants will have the opportunity to schedule private nutrition sessions with the dietitian for an additional fee as well.
We all know fad diets and quick fixes don’t work.
“What does work,” explained Rosenfeld, “is a commitment to small, tangible and personalized lifestyle changes. These classes will teach you the skills and motivation to do just that. Our goal is that you leave the 12-week session feeling inspired to be ‘nourished for life.’”
